Coppens Molen was built in 1883 for Nicolaas Coppens. This stellingmolen, a Dutch tower mill with a raised gallery, replaced a post mill that had stood on this site since 1858. The mill remained in the family for many years, with three generations of the Coppens family owning it until 1950.
That year, J.A. van Dongen took over the mill. He was no stranger to the business: he had married a daughter of miller A. Coppens and had already been working at the mill with his father-in-law since 1947.
In the autumn of 1971, the municipality became the owner of Coppens Molen. However, this did not bring the family's involvement in milling to an end. The former owner and his son continued to work as millers. As a result, the mill was not only preserved, but also remained in active use.
