At Fort aan de Buursteeg, where the visitor centre is located, the story of the Grebbelinie begins. At the Grebbelinie Visitor Centre you discover how this remarkable water defence line protected the Netherlands for more than two hundred years. Among the defensive walls, the stories come to life, told by wooden soldiers who take you from the Eighty Years’ War to the Second World War.
Inside, an interactive exhibition awaits, full of special finds and personal stories. Outside, you walk across the fort, along quiet traces of the past in a green landscape full of life. You can also take a break for a coffee or lunch at the Grebbelounge.
Walking maps are available at the desk for a short 2.5 kilometre walk across Fort aan de Buursteeg.
