Please note: The Kozakkenveer ferry is temporarily out of service due to drought and low water levels. It is not yet known when the service will resume.
A ferry has crossed the River Vecht from the village of Veessen since the Middle Ages, and possibly even earlier. Today, the crossing is operated using a former shrimp fishing vessel, which takes cyclists and pedestrians safely to the opposite bank.
If the ferry is on the other side of the river, press the red button located on the riverbank. This alerts the skipper that passengers are waiting to cross.
The crossing costs €1 per person with a bicycle. Please note that card payments only are accepted on board.
