More than 50 years ago, the Van Wolfswinkel family started making cheese and butter here. Over the years, the original dairy farm has developed into a farm shop, a Cheese and Butter Museum and an events venue offering a variety of activities. Throughout these changes, the rural character of De Weistaar and its distinctive surroundings have always been carefully preserved.
A visit to the Cheese and Butter Museum takes you back in time. As well as showing how cheese and butter were traditionally made, the museum takes you past farmhouse façades, a village square and little streets lined with authentic shops. With figures dressed in traditional costumes all around you, it almost feels as though you are part of village life yourself!
Fancy something active? Try boerengolf, the Dutch version of farm golf! You can play all year round, either outside in the fields or indoors with a miniature version of the game. You can decide which you prefer on the day itself. It's suitable for all ages.
Pick up a souvenir from the farm shop, where you'll find all kinds of interesting products. Choose from gift boxes, snacks to enjoy with drinks, breakfast products and, of course, traditional farmhouse cheeses.
