Statue the sunken tower of Drienerlo - Enschede
Artist Wim T. Schippers created this striking work of art on the University of Twente campus. The tower stands in the middle of a pond and, at first glance, may simply look like an unusual landmark. But according to Schippers, there is more to it than meets the eye. Or is there?
The artist himself helped spread several made-up stories about the artwork. One claims that the tower is the only visible part of a small church that has slowly sunk into the marshy ground beneath the pond. And that is not the only story surrounding this unusual spot.
