The Linge is a beautiful river that meanders through the beautiful landscapes of Gelderland and South Holland. During a cycle trip along the Linge, you will not only discover the peaceful nature, but also the charming nearby towns and villages. For example, you can visit the National Glass Museum in Vestingstad Leerdam, where you can learn all about the art of glass blowing and glass production.

Besides the attractive nature and wide-open countryside, this cycle route also offers the opportunity to explore the rich history of the area. For example, there are two historic forts along the route, the Geofort and the Fort near Asperen. Here you will discover how these forts used to protect the Netherlands from invaders.

Please note: the ferry at Heukelum operates from late April until the end of September. Check the ferry’s website for the latest sailing times. A technical malfunction was reported on 23 May, and until further notice the ferry is not operating.

If you would still like to cycle the route, follow junctions 36, 37 and 54 from junction 33, then rejoin the route at junction 39. If you are cycling the route in the opposite direction, follow the detour in reverse.

Alternatively, from April to October, you can cross from junction 37 to 38, then continue via 26 to 39. The total distance remains approximately the same.
