The barren sandy soil of Nunspeet used to be home to many poor farmers who struggled to keep their heads above water. That changed when the Veluwe became more wooded and more people came to visit it. Now Nunspeet is a prosperous village thanks to increasing tourism. However, you don't have to worry about getting caught up in the hustle and bustle, because the extensive woodlands around Nunspeet guarantee peace and quiet. On the other side of Nunspeet, you can take a trip along the water. The Veluwemeer is one of the lakes that came into being after the Zuiderzee was reclaimed. In this area, you see many farms and cows in the green meadows. The lake is often visited in the summer for a cooling dip and a day of relaxing at the water's edge. A lovely place to stop and rest with a beautiful view.
